Listening, Support, Acceptance

My belief is that no one "needs" counseling, but that everyone DESERVES it. I have more than 19 years of experience providing individual and family counseling to children, teens, adults and families. I believe strongly that we all have inherent strengths and abilities to overcome life's most difficult challenges. ---------- Amy is a Licensed Therapist, as well as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from St. Louis University in 2002, and has a Bachelor’s Degree in both Psychology and Sociology from Maryville University. Prior, she was the Senior Director of Counseling Services at Youth In Need, where she developed and managed one of the largest teams of therapists in the region. ------- Shayna Parker, MSW, LCSW is also offering counseling in collaboration with Amy Brown Counseling. “Supervision under Amy is probably the single most influential and transformative experience during my time as a social worker. With Amy, I could bring my whole self to supervision each week. She is a true gift to anyone who comes into contact with her. ”

Melanie Rodman, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S, Therapist

“Her ability to be compassionate, direct, and coach me in clinically challenging situations has helped shaped me into the professional I am today. The safety Amy provided allowed for me to grow in ways I needed to best serve clients. ”

Brittanie Zwart, MSW, LCSW, Therapist

“Amy is not only an expert in her clinical skills but also walks a path of social justice for the community’s most vulnerable populations. I can honestly say that where I began to where I am now, a genuine transformation occurred. ”
